In October 2024, I took over social media management for The Matinee, Akron's premier underground music venue. The venue had a modest but loyal following with limited reach outside Highland Square. Before I took over, The Matinee averaged under 1,000 profile visits per month and under 2,000 reach, with no sustainable growth pattern.

The Strategy

I transformed The Matinee's social platforms into drivers of community identity, brand awareness, and foot traffic. Every post followed direct-response principles: build desire, create urgency, drive action. I implemented consistent posting schedules, partnered with bands and artists, featured bartenders and regulars, and diversified content beyond just show announcements.

The breakthrough came when we opened the Matinee kitchen and created food content alongside music coverage. Combined with personality-driven bartender content, this diversity drove viral exposure.
